– RIDASCREEN®FAST Folsäure (Folic acid)
RIDASCREEN®FAST Folsäure (Folic acid)
Art. No.: R3203
Intended Use
RIDASCREEN®FAST Folsäure (Folic Acid) is a competitive enzyme immunoassay for the quantitative determination of added folic acid in milk, milk powder, food for special medical purpose, grain and cereals, fortified flour, vitamin powder, -mixture, -tablets, and vitamin juice.
General Information
Folic acid also known as vitamin B9 or vitamin B11 belongs to the group of water soluble vitamins. It can´t be produced by the human body and therefore must be included in the diet in order to meet the daily requirements. Folic acid plays a key role in all growth and cell division processes. Adequate folic acid intake during pregnancy is important to avoid neural tube defects, for example. Some countries have agreed to fortify either bread, cereals, flour, pasta, rice or other grain products with folic acid in different concentrations as a preventive approach to improve micronutrient status of the population.

General Information
Vitamin B12 belongs to group of the water soluble vitamins. It is not produced by the human body and must be included in the diet. Vitamin B12 is needed only in small concentrations, however it plays an important role for the nervous system, has protective effects for the heart and plays an important role in nucleotide biosynthesis, iron intake, and metabolism of amino acids. A lack of vitamin B12 can lead to anemia and neurological deficits.

Art. No.: P1003
Intended Use
Easy to use microbiological microtiter plate test for the quantification of total biotin (enriched and natural biotin) in food, feed and pharmaceutical products.
General information
Biotin is extracted from the sample and the extract is diluted. The diluted extract and the biotin assay-medium are pipetted into the wells of a microtiter plate which is coated with Lactobacillus plantarum. The growth of Lactobacillus plantarum is dependent on the supply of biotin. Following the addition of biotin as a standard or as a compound of the sample, the bacteria grow until the vitamin is consumed. The incubation is done in the dark at 37 °C (98.6 °F) for 44 – 48 h. The intensity of metabolism or growth in relation to the extracted biotin is measured as turbidity and compared to a standard curve. The measurement is done using an microtiter plate spectrophotometer at 610 – 630 nm (alternatively at 540 – 550 nm).

Biotin
EASI-EXTRACT® BIOTIN
Art. No.: P82 / P82B
Intended Use
Immunoaffinity columns for use in conjuntion with an HPLC or LC-MS/MS system for detection of biotin in a wide range of commodities.
General Information
The procedure is based on monoclonal antibody technology, which makes the test highly specific, sensitive, rapid and simple to perform. Improved clean-up and concentration of toxins from complex food matrices results in reduced chromatography interference and lower detection limits.
The columns contain a gel suspension of monoclonal antibody specific to the vitamin of interest. Following extraction of the vitamin the sample extract is diluted with buffer, centrifuged and the supernatant filtered before being passed slowly through the immunoaffinity column. Any vitamin which is present in the sample is retained by the antibody within the gel suspension. The column is washed to remove unbound material and the vitamin is then released following elution with solvent. The eluate is collected, evaporated and reconstituted prior to analysis by HPLC or LC-MS/MS.

EASI-EXTRACT® MULTI-VIT B (LGE)
Art. No.: P183 / P183B
Intended Use
Immunoaffinity columns for use in conjunction with an HPLC or LC-MS/MS system for detection of biotin, folic acid and vitamin B12 in a wide range of commodities.
General Information
The procedure is based on monoclonal antibody technology, which makes the test highly specific, sensitive, rapid and simple to perform. Improved clean-up and concentration of vitamins from complex food matrices results in reduced chromatography interference and lower detection limits.
The columns contain a gel suspension of monoclonal antibody specific to the vitamins of interest. The immunoaffinity columns are designed with an integrated reservoir and a tightly fitting top and bottom cap. The top frit is absent from the top of the antibody gel to enable more thorough mixing of the sample extract and the antibody within the column. Following extraction of the vitamin the sample extract is filtered and the filtrate is added to the reservoir. The column is then placed on a rotary shaker where the sample mixes directly with the gel allowing binding to take place between the vitamin and the antibody. After allowing the gel to settle the sample is drained slowly from the column. The column is washed to remove any unbound material and the vitamin is then released from the column following elution with solvent. The eluate is collected, evaporated and reconstituted prior to analysis by HPLC.

– EASI-EXTRACT® MULTI-VIT B (LGE)
